The materials used, I feel must be the best you can possibly afford. The main focus was on the quality of the watercolour paper and then the cover fabric, used for binding the journal. The rest , such as bookbinders glue, archival book board, thread etc… , have also to be of very good quality. The finished piece will then reflect the materials used. The main aim was to produce a professionally made sketchbook/Journal with a hand crafted feel.

Black Calf Leather
Tan Calf Leather
The spine is dressed with Calf leather for added resistance and longevity, which gives the Journal a better design finish. This is hand stitched with waxed cotton to the Buckram and book board which lies underneath. These two leather finishes will receive a upgrade in the coming month with the addition of new colours. This will be announced as a blog post.
At this moment the Travel and the Studio companion are both landscape orientated sketchbooks. However, I can make these Journals in any format and any paper size and weight* or specific paper quality. With half leather or full leather, or standard buckram finish.
